This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback was reportedly refurbished and modified by Hi-Speed Rods & Customs of Tucson, Arizona under previous ownership. Work included a repaint in gold as well as the installation of an overbored 302ci Ford V8 equipped with GT40-style cylinder heads and a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission. The car is additional equipped with two-tone brown leather upholstery, a Vintage Air heater and air conditioning system, a Custom Autosound USA-1 stereo, front disc brakes and adjustable coilovers, Flaming River rack-and-pinion steering, and polished 15” American Racing wheels. Finished from the factory in Prairie Bronze (P), the car was repainted its current shade of gold during the build, and the chrome bumpers and trim are said to have been replaced at that time. Exterior features include a chrome driver’s side mirror, dual exhaust outlets, and louvered B-pillars. Polished 15” Shelby-branded American Racing wheels feature faux knock-off spinners and are mounted with Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires up front and ET Street S/S rubber out back. A spare is found in the trunk. Braking is handled by Rod & Custom front discs with rear drums. Additional modifications include adjustable front coilovers, a 1” front sway bar, KYB adjustable rear shocks, and Flaming River rack-and-pinion steering. The replacement 302ci Ford V8 has reportedly been bored .030” over and fitted with GT40-style cylinder heads, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and a Holley four-barrel carburetor. Additional equipment is said to include hypereutectic pistons, a US Radiator aluminum radiator with a SPAL electric fan, a Holley fuel pump, high-flow water pump, Painless Wiring harness, chrome Ford Racing-branded valve covers, long-tube headers, and roller rockers.
